Culinary experiences on the border

Built in the 16th century, the artillery tower at the entrance to the western courtyard of Narva Castle has housed the museum's restaurant, Rondeel, since summer 2016. The restaurant focuses on local flavours and the menu is inspired by the influence of cuisines from the various nations that have played important roles in the history of Narva.

The museum's restaurant serves the same purpose as the museum itself – to showcase and popularise local cultural heritage and history. For that reason the menu contains references to the peoples who have lived in Narva. As such, in memory of the Tatars who lived in Narva, you will find a number of tartars on the menu that are specialities of the chef. At the forefront of the menu, of course, is the local specialty – lampreys. Rondeel also has the largest selection of domestic craft beers in Narva – there are around 100 such beers to be found on the Gambrinus shelf on the second floor of the restaurant.

Like Narva Castle, Rondeel warmly welcomes individuals and groups. Visitors particularly appreciate the fact that you can book a complete tour programme to visit the city of Narva, Kreenholm and Narva Castle and enjoy a meal at Rondeel all in one place.

The restaurant's unusual menu and high quality are also recognised by the White Guide, which evaluates Nordic and Baltic food, and in which Rondeel has been included every year since 2018.
