17.11.2024 11:00 / Narva Castle

Event overview

The Kreenholm factories can rightly be called a magical land where diligent "fairies" created intricate patterns that remain unforgettable for many. Ornate plant ornaments, playful tiny flowers, and graceful almond-shaped lines of Eastern designs—all these were crafted by textile artists working at the Kreenholm finishing factory.

On November 17 at 11:00, we invite you to an engaging lecture dedicated to the artistic profession in the textile industry. Participants will explore the history of textile pattern printing, as well as various techniques and styles showcased through examples from Kreenholm's art workshops.

We'll discuss the artistic design of textiles and the full process of fabric design from A to Z. You’ll learn how artists created original fabric print designs, from sketching botanical forms to finishing the final fabric panels.

At the end of the lecture, we’ll create our own botanical motif and print it on a textile pouch. Don’t miss this opportunity to dive into the world of textile art and discover more about the fascinating role of a textile artist!

The workshop will be led by Olga Tyurina—head of the Narva Artists' Association "Vestervalli," a teacher at the Narva Art School, and a former artist at the Kreenholm finishing factory.

Price: €15
Duration: Approximately 2 hours
All necessary materials, tools, and a coffee break are included.

The project is supported by the Eesti Kultuurkapital Foundation and the Ida-Virumaa Expert Group.
