There are lots of things to see in and around the castle which has a lot of history behind it. I couldn’t believe how quiet it was whilst I was there just after it opened at 10am. The northern yard is currently under renovation so...More
When I stayed In Narva before crossing the russian border I visited this beautiful, reconstected fortress with museum. Wonderful view on the second bank of the river and the second fortress In russian Ivangorod.
We had an excellent guide through the old castle and enjoyed both the things to see as well as the lively way in which the stories and history was told and explained. We liked the setup with the market in the square and the view...More
It feels like a breath of history to visit Narva Castle. The castle is very authentic and respectfully restored. From this Esonian castle you can look into Russia and the russian Castle Ivangorod. There is a river (Narva) separating Estonia and Russia - the bridge...More
So glad I saw this. It was a bit scary though and I felt very vulnerable that close to Russian border. There wasn’t muCh to see though. So cold and icy. You are really near these here. The sea was frozen solid just like a wand...More
Nice historical place, kind service and not expensive...
Very cheap and you can get a very good view at the city. Has a not-too-big selection of different arts and curios, spent there 2 hours, probably takes longer in the summer. A must-go when visiting Narva, no excuses.
Great castle with a stunning view over the river Narva on the castle on the Russian side. We didnt go inside the museum but walked around outside which was for free and enjoyable for the entire family.
Beautiful castle and views. Historic crafters make souvenirs.
A great museum! It has a lot of old expositions with interesting backstories. The prices are reasonable. The best part is the Northern Courtyard - it has a lot of little workshops where you can create something yourself! The courtyard also shows what life was like in a castle during the 14th century. Really cool!
You've got to appreciate how the local people are looking after this historical site. The building is quite stunning, with lots to explore, see and interact with. What they have done in the North Courtyard is really neat, with hands on things to do and fun craft stuff to look at and buy. Great for kids and adults, although be prepared for a lot of climbing. Most signs had an English translation although not everything did.
